The County Seat: Montrose Borough

The Centerpiece of the The Montrose Green is the County Civil War Monument. The Green also includes a monument to native son Congressman Galusha A. Grow, author of the Homestead Act. The Green hosts many events each out the year, including the 4th of July Celebration, and the Blueberry Festival and Applefest. The Susquehanna County Court House and the adjoining county Green have been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Center for Anti-slavery Studies (CASS) CASS sponsors several programs each year about the Underground Railroad and the Abolitionist movement in the area. The organization is located at 75 Church Street in a Greek Revival house that has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
